One of the first things Shelby + Greg said to me is that they wanted a unique engagement session. No beach, no open fields…something them. I thought and thought and thought. And then made up an epic list of places. Shelby’s love of books eventually brought us to decide on the Last Bookstore in downtown LA. It was awesome. Such a neat find – books + art installations with books! Shout out to my friend Ally who led me to the location via her Instagram! And of top of that, they have a used record section – these two had their first date at a record store! Plus they met working at a bank…and the store is in an old bank, with a cool vault and all!
The day before the shoot I received an email from Greg. When they got engaged, he never officially got down on one knee and ask for her hand. He told her that her ring wasn’t ready in time for the shoot and surprised her with an official proposal. The first photo in the blog is him proposing, in which she promptly smacked him on the shoulder and said a bad word. Of course she said yes after. 😉

Okay this is too cool for so many reasons! I LOVE this session!! Great lighting, and such a cool unique location! I love that in the one with the records he’s holding up Tommy. Good choice 🙂
Geez, Mel, these are FANTASTIC. I really want to go to there now after seeing your pics. Love how you found the red books that compliment her dress – you have such an amazing eye for all the great details that make your photos so wonderufl!
